About Michaela

Michaela Wohlgemuth is an Alexander Technique Teacher / Trainer and for the past 10 years has been the Co-Director of the Alexander Technique Training Centre based in Galway.

Early Life, First Careers, and Hip Problems

She was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1961, trained to become a nurse at the University Hospital Dusseldorf and has a BA hons degree in Sociology.

Michaela enjoys working with people. Her life has reflected that in many ways. Being a nurse helping people in a hospital environment was particularly rewarding.

In 1994 Michaela developed painful hip problems, after having been diagnosed with Scoliosis years before. She came across the Alexander Technique on her quest to get better.

"With my first Alexander lesson, I felt amazing and knew I had discovered something very powerful - a way not to be dependent on treatments, but to help myself. I'm happy to be able to offer you the same opportunity."

Her Work as an Alexander Technique Teacher

Michaela was completely hooked and went on to train as a teacher herself. She undertook her three year fulltime training at the ATI-Los Angeles in California, USA. She is a fully qualified and insured member of STAT - the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique - and abides by their professional code of ethics.

Michaela moved with her family to Westport, County Mayo in 2003. She has her private practice in Westport, gives workshops throughout Mayo, and is a trainer and Co-Director in Ireland's first Alexander Technique Training College since 2003. Michaela is a co-founder and member of the Irish Society of the Alexander Technique (ISATT).

Working with Michaela you'll get clear, effective guidance using the Alexander Technique. She loves her work and has a warm, supportive approach.
